Last week the halls of Little, Brown Book Group Ltd rang with the sounds of excited chatter and the delicate clatter of vintage teacups, as competition winners and book bloggers came together for an exclusive vintage tea party themed book group event in celebration of Vanessa Greene’s upcoming novel, The Vintage Teacup Club.

Published this October, the word of mouth buzz for The Vintage Teacup Club is already building with women’s fiction bestseller Trisha Ashley calling it ‘a delicious brew of love and friendship’, bestseller Carole Mathews saying ‘this heart-warming story of finding new friends is a lovely debut’ and the Bookseller calling it ‘stylish, upmarket chick lit’ so we were delighted to find that this diverse and completely independent group of readers had also fallen in love with Greene’s wonderful debut novel .

Over a spread of Earl Grey, bellinis, sandwiches, cakes and scones, attendees enjoyed readings from the book and a guided reading group discussion, as well as a unique opportunity to ask the author anything. Feedback came in thick and fast with readers commenting on everything from the uniqueness of the concept, to the relatability of the characters and a general love of the vibrant photographic cover.

Other interesting comments centred on the complexity of the storylines and how many readers felt these turned what could have been a light and sugary read into a refreshing and satisfying novel. Some of our favourite feedback came from readers who felt inspired by the book to get crafty and creative – and even to consider career changes like the characters in the book. The event ended with an impromptu signing and photograph session and lots of fun was had by all!

A novel about life, love, friendship and a very special set of vintage teacups, The Vintage Teacup Club is published on October 11th. Stay tuned to the Little, Brown website and the Between the Sheets Facebook Fanpage and Twitter feed for more exciting news about this title.
