Wo
rld Book Night launched in 2011 and saw 20,000 people accross the UK share their love of reading.
World Book Night 2012 will be held on April 23rd, and we are incredibly excited that our very own Mark Billingham is one of just 25 authors on the list, which features an eclectic mix of contemporary novels and classics across all genres.
The aim of World Book Night is very simply to promote reading, an extremely worthy cause we think! The idea is that of putting a book into another person's hands, and saying 'this is amazing, you must read it', but on a huge scale.
World Book Night 2012 are looking for 20,000 volunteer 'givers', who will each get 24 copies of their favourite book from the list to giveaway. So register by 1st feburary and sign-up to get copies of Mark Billingham's gripping first thriller Sleepyhead into the hands of your friends and family.
Sleepyhead, the very first novel to feature prickly DI Tom Thorne, is a superbly crafted, high-concept, gritty British thriller. It asks you the question – what could possibly be worse than being dead?, and sees Thorne propelled on a race to find a serial killer quite unlike any other. Sleepyhead is unique, original, pacy and will more than likely keep you up-all-night.
Whether you are a Mark Billingham fan, or a lover of crime and thrillers in general, we thoroughly urge you to register for this worthy cause, and be part of 2012's biggest book event.
